Blessings, my name is Denisha. I am a Community & Full Spectrum Doula, and founder of Sa Amai Birthwork.
At Sa Amai Birthwork, we honor the sacredness of birth and celebrate the birthing person at every step.
Our doula services combine culturally rooted care with forward-facing creativity to hold you through labor, delivery, and the sacred first 40 days of recovery.
We are dedicated to providing personalized support to ensure a positive and empowering birthing experience for you and your family.
Who Am I?
I am a full‑spectrum doula, which means I support people through conception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with nonjudgmental, empathetic care. I offer compassionate advocacy, culturally responsive support, and practical resources so families can make informed choices and feel empowered throughout every reproductive experience.
I have comprehensive knowledge and skills in childbirth, lactation support, childbirth education, anatomy of pregnancy and childbirth, non-medical comfort measures, prenatal support, and labor support techniques, and community resources. I provide holistic care to expecting families from diverse backgrounds.
I am focused on contributing to healthy birthing families and birth journeys. The care that I provide is empathetic and honors evidence-based and cultural practices. Sa Amai Birthwork's foundational philosophies are the incorporation of holistic practices, medically proven support, and celebratory milestones throughout. This is how we affirm the sacredness of childbrith in a (w)holisitic approach, allowing birthing families to reclaim their birth narratives. Sa is a kemetic word meaning protection/guide, it also is sound focused on breathwork. Amai is a Shona word, which means mother. And Birthwork is a collaborative effort and nature of childbearing.
